Welcome to WorldFieldGuide.com (WFG)!

You have at your fingertips WFG's digital library that names 13,000 species of Earth's plant and animal lives. There are 27,000 describing images as well as text for most species. A number of search options are also available: geographic, taxonomic, tours.

The cooperation of many experts, professionals, and individuals who share WFG's enthusiasm for the wonders of the natural world has been invaluable. Those of us behind the scenes of WFG share an intense respect for and an enjoyment of our planet's flora and fauna. Increasingly, we are aware of its beauty, diversity, mystery and, more importantly, its fragility and our responsibility as its stewards.

WFG, at its sole discretion, will make this site available for a limited time for no charge to determine interest among libraries, schools, teachers, parents and children. Does WFG have value? What dollar amount will the consumer accept as a fair exchange for content? WFG is considering offering the site for a subscription fee or per use basis. Your input will be helpful to determine an appropriate approach in this age when there is so much information available in so many diverse forms.

Upon completion of the questionnaire, you will be issued an access code for the duration of the site's free availability. Should the site move into subscription access you would not automatically be charged a subscription fee. You will have a choice of becoming a subscriber or not becoming one. Should the site be removed at any time, there will be no further or future obligation on your part nor that of WorldFieldGuide.com.

WorldFieldGuide.com is the latest in a sequence of products developed over a period of years. The great granddaddy of WorldFieldGuide.com was a retail and mail order supplier of scientific specimens to schools. Years followed as a mail order supplier to amateur and professional taxonomists of arthropods. Filmstrips were added for schools. These morphed into an extensive library of digital images of worldwide flora and fauna. This storehouse of images led to a collaborative relationship with a major U.S. textbook publisher for the production of a video disk for the higher education market. A short-lived venture into the CD-Rom arena gave way to the vast reach of the internet and WFG's current format.

We hope that your use of WFG serves well as a vehicle to learn more about Earth's flora and fauna. We further hope that the thousands of images this site contains will serve as a source of enjoyment of their rich variety of shapes, colors and characteristics.

Cordially.
