Welcome to World Field Guide

This website contains a collection of more than 50,000 images of over 27,000 individual plants and animals found throughout planet Earth. It presents an overview of Earth’s flora and fauna through a selection of images, scientific and/or common name identification, some text, and geographic location maps. Popular plants and animals are included as well as less familiar genus and species – from the nudibranch to the elephant, from the mosses to the redwood. We are providing a survey and inviting you to share your reactions and comments with us. Our goal is to make the site and experience most enjoyable and educational.
